LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College beach volleyball head coach Hyrum Keime has announced the addition of four more student-athletes who will join the Moccasins for the 2018-19 academic year. The quartet will join Florida Southern for its second season as a beach volleyball program after the sport was added prior to the 2017-18 year. The four new signees consist of Gigi Chiaramonte, Haley Goodrich, Kennedy Mathews, and Curry Ward.

"We are so excited about the incoming freshmen," said Keime, who previously announced the signing of Celia Greco in April. "These four, in addition to Celia, have the experience and the skills that will solidify the foundation for the program's future success. I foresee them all making an immediate and significant impact on the program. They are extremely dedicated to the sport and Florida Southern and will make an instant impression on our team, college, and community."

Gigi Chiaramonte | 5-9
Tampa, FL | St. John Lutheran

Chiaramonte comes to Florida Southern after an outstanding prep career at St. John Lutheran in nearby Ocala. During her time with the Saints, Chiaramonte helped lead her squad to a pair of FHSAA 2A State Championships (2016, 2017), earning MVP honors at the state title match in 2017. She was also the FHSAA 2A Player of the Year, a MaxPreps Player of the Week, and earned Marion and Pasco First Team all-county honors. She finished her career with 1,041 total kills including 319 as a senior, 20 of which came in the state championship match. In addition to her career at St. John Lutheran, she also played club volleyball for Tampa Elite Indoor and Tampa Elite Beach, earning three National AAU Beach Tournament bids.

Haley Goodrich | 5-11
Chuluota, FL | The Master's Academy

Goodrich will join the Moccasins from The Master's Academy in Oviedo, where she was an all-district selection and team captain as a senior. A three-sport athlete in high school, Goodrich played both beach and indoor volleyball in addition to basketball.  She helped lead the Eagles to a district runner-up finish as a senior.

Kennedy Mathews | 5-6
Metamora, IL | Metamora Township

Mathews comes to Florida Southern from Metamora Township High School in Metamora, IL, just outside of Peoria.  A two-sport standout in high school competing in soccer and volleyball, she was a first team all-conference selection and MVP of her volleyball squad as a senior. She helped lead the Redbirds to a 30-7 record in 2017 while recording 789 assists, 195 digs, 108 kills, 34 blocks and 28 aces. She also played club volleyball for Central Illini Elite.

Curry Ward | 5-8
Clermont, FL | George C. Marshall

Curry will join the Mocs after playing two sports at George C. Marshall High School in Falls Church, VA, just outside the nation's capital. A volleyball and tennis standout, Curry was a first team all-conference selection while also earning all-region accolades. A varsity captain on her volleyball squad, she earned MVP honors and her team's "Grit Ward". She also excelled in the classroom as a member of the National Honor Society. Ward played AAU Volleyball for Virginia Juniors and was an academic all-American and club team captain.
